Unveiling the captivating narrative behind the birth of Nike’s immortal line, Air Jordan, we find ourselves entranced by the latest sensation, “Air.” Streaming on Amazon Prime from today, it’s a cinematic journey that promises to captivate and inspire.

Ben Affleck, known for his finesse in acting, amazes us yet again, not just with his performance but also with his ever-evolving directorial acumen. His reunion with long-time friend Matt Damon results in a masterfully crafted narrative that spans two hours, with every ounce of superfluity diligently trimmed away.  In the realm of sports business films, “Air” proudly takes its place alongside such classics as “Moneyball” (2011) and “Jerry Maguire” (1996) — to claim otherwise would be a disservice.

The cast assembled for this production is nothing short of superb. While Affleck’s magnetism certainly contributed to the recruitment, the film gracefully arranges a roster of leading talents in supporting roles, their performances functioning seamlessly within the story’s framework.

The film’s music, while featuring a smattering of original scores from Paul Haslinger, primarily flourishes with nearly forty needle drops, each brimming with a profound sense of the era. Scattered amongst these are instrumental scores from other films, including recognizable pieces from such illustrious composers as Thomas Newman and Alexandre Desplat. One can’t help but yearn for an interview with Andrea von Foerster, the film’s music supervisor, to gain an insight into the fascinating mechanics behind her role.
