Composer | Sound Designer | Orchestrator
Born in Japan, educated in Southern California and Boston, and based in New York, Kenji Ichiyanagi is an award-winning composer, sound designer, and orchestrator for film, television, and visual media.
A graduate of Berklee College of Music with degrees in Film Scoring and Music Synthesis, Kenji has over 25 years of experience creating music and sound for film, television, advertising, and interactive media. His work includes over 3,000 episodes of Emmy® Award-winning drama series and documentaries for major networks, along with internationally recognized feature films that have received awards for Best Score and Best Original Soundtrack at multiple film festivals.
Kenji has also contributed to the development of music and audio technology, including sample libraries created for Apple’s Logic Pro and GarageBand, speech-recognition and audio-analysis research for leading technology companies, and MIT/IRCAM’s immersive real-time spatial mixing engine SPAT, currently available through Flux Software Engineering.
Throughout his career, Kenji has collaborated with filmmakers, producers, editors, agencies, musicians, and artists worldwide to create emotionally engaging and innovative work across a wide range of media.
